Kershaw Greene
Kershaw Greene is an affordable apartment community that features four separate, three-story breezeway style apartment buildings, totaling 191 new units.
Providence provided structural engineering services for this multi-phased project, with the buildings designed as stacked flats with stairwells connecting the apartment units. Each open breezeway includes an enclosed laundry space and an open-air space with bike storage and a mail area.
Design features include:
- Vertically stacked bearing walls and shear walls
- Shallow concrete spread footings
- Mix of brick veneer wainscot with cement board siding
- Breezeway stairs constructed of steel framed stairs supported by built-up wood beams
