Dragon's Den

Dragon’s Den is a novel community recreation center that operates in a renovated Italianate Renaissance Church.

Providence provided design for the high and low ropes course and a 150’ zipline. The zipline, which runs the length of the sanctuary, is supported by a steel structure anchored to an existing balcony at one end and an interior masonry wall at the other end.

The high ropes course consists of timber pole and metal bracket construction. 16” diameter utility poles are anchored to the existing concrete floor along the main column grid and bracketed at the top with angled steel braces to the existing masonry walls. Elevated platforms and obstacles are connected between the poles. The lower ropes course, designed for younger children, is supported by 4’x4’ wood framed platforms located along the exterior sanctuary. The platforms are anchored to the existing terra cotta floor and obstacles are hung between the platforms. Safety guide wires run over top of each obstacle that incorporate an innovative safety mechanism for ease of movement.
