Employee-Owner Spotlight: Tony Commero

With more than 35 years of experience in structural layout, design, and modeling, Tony brings a wealth of knowledge to Providence Engineering. He specializes in foundation and structural systems, Building Information Modeling (BIM), project coordination, dock equipment detailing, and cold storage facility design. His project experience spans building additions and renovations, cold storage distribution centers, and USDA food processing facilities, all approached with a practical, hands-on mindset shaped by decades in the field.

Question 1: What inspired you to join Providence, and what has kept you here?

I’ve known Dan F. for a long time as well as worked with a few colleagues in the past. The wide array of projects and ethics in the founding principles of the company were attractive. I enjoy being able to complete and help out on many different projects as well as being around the people I work with.

Question 2: What does being an employee-owner mean to you?

Not too much different as I feel you should always work as if you owned the place yourself.

Question 3: What’s a project or accomplishment you’re particularly proud of?

Here and Now warehouse, Stone Mill Treehouse, as well as learning modular project modeling.

Question 4: Describe Providence in 3 words.

Fun, Appreciative, People.

Question 5: If you weren’t an engineer, what profession would you be in?

Racing or stunt driving.

Question 6: What’s the most unusual job or task you’ve ever had?

Driving the hay wagon for Jason’s Woods.

Question 7: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A lot of good advice, but I’d say live each day as if it’s your last.

Question 8: What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

Invest in real estate.

Question 9: Who is/was your biggest role model?

My dad.

Question 10: What’s one movie, book, or TV show you never get tired of?

The Bible.

Question 11: What’s your hidden talent or hobby most people don’t know about?

I love to ski. I’ve even skied in the Swiss Alps.

Question 12: What’s a fun fact about you that always surprises people?

I used to have a full head of hair. 🙂

Question 13: What’s your all-time favorite guilty pleasure snack or treat?

Chocolate chip cookies or mocha chocolate chip ice cream!

Question 14: What’s the first concert you ever attended?

Metallica in the 80’s.

Question 15: What’s something on your bucket list you’re hoping to check off soon?

Travel the country in our camper.
