We’re continuing our employee-owner spotlight series with someone who knows how to keep things cool—literally. Meet Bart Foreman, P.E., our Vice President of Logistics & Cold Storage Facilities. Bart brings serious know-how to the table, specializing in the structural design of distribution centers and cold-storage warehouses. From tilt-up walls to slabs-on-ground, he’s the guy making sure the bones of a building are built to last. He works hand-in-hand with architects, contractors, and owners to make projects run smoothly from concept through construction.
Question 1: What inspired you to join Providence, and what has kept you here?
Dan Fichtner approached me during the fall semester of my last year in college and invited me to intern at Providence over winter break. I took him up on it and I’ve been here ever since—over 18 years now. What’s kept me here? The people, the projects, and the atmosphere. I’ve had the chance to work with great co-workers and clients, and I’ve really appreciated the variety of projects we take on. Especially starting out as a young engineer, that exposure to different designs was incredibly valuable. Providence has a family feel, and it’s a fun place to come to work every day.
Question 2: If you weren’t an engineer, what profession would you be in?
Probably something in computers. In addition to my engineering degree, I also have a bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences and Technology.
Question 3: Who is your biggest role model?
My dad. He’s a structural engineer too, and I watched everything he did while I was growing up. We did a lot of projects around the house together, and I always looked up to him because he took the time to teach me what we were doing. After college, I started working at Providence while he was still at another firm. A couple of years later, he joined Providence too, and we’ve been working together ever since where he’s still teaching me in my career.
Question 4: What’s one movie, book, or TV show you never get tired of?
Top Gun.
Question 5: What’s your all-time favorite guilty pleasure snack or treat?
Wings and cheese fries.
Stay tuned each month as we continue to highlight more of our employee-owners and share their unique stories. We’re excited to showcase the people who make Providence a great place to work!
