College Union Building for Gettysburg College
The Gettysburg College CUB serves as a campus hub providing student gathering spaces, administrative offices, a dining hall, post office, banking facilities and a student bookstore.
As part of an approximately 15 million dollar renovation and addition, the portion of the building that housed the Junction, the Bullet Hole, Ike’s and the original swimming pool was demolished and replaced with a new 30,000-square-foot, two-story addition. The two-story addition is a steel framed structure with light gage curtain walls, slab-on-ground and shallow spread footings. Design features include an open atrium, monumental stair, varying floor elevations to interface with existing floors, extensive glazing and architecturally exposed structural-steel-splayed columns.
