We’re continuing our employee-owner spotlight series with Levi Schneck, P.E.! Whether he’s tackling a community-centered structural project or training for his first marathon, Levi brings energy, curiosity, and a commitment to growth in everything he does.
Question 1: What does being an employee-owner mean to you?
It means that I truly have the ability to make Providence a better place to work and I can have a real impact on the success of the company. It means that my voice is heard all the way up to leadership. Providence being an ESOP is so valuable to me because I feel empowered to create a workplace that my coworkers and I love to come to. The payout in the future is also a nice perk!
Question 2: What’s a project or accomplishment you’re particularly proud of?
I’m particularly proud of the ACAC Community Hub project in Pittsburgh, PA. This project is in such a prominent place in the neighborhood and really provides a welcoming and safe environment for the members of its community. Besides it being a fun structural building (a four-story steel-framed building sandwiched between three historic buildings), it also is a valuable asset to the community.
Question 3: If you weren’t an engineer, what profession would you be in?
I think I would love to be a park ranger at a state or national park. I’d love to play a part in conserving a unique part of our country and helping others enjoy the outdoors. And then maybe also be a ski instructor during the winter on the side.
Question 4: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
My first boss always told me to ask more questions and that has always stuck with me. In all situations, I try to Seek First to Understand (IYKYK), and that typically involves asking a lot of questions and learning from someone else.
Question 5: What’s something on your bucket list you’re hoping to check off soon?
I’ve always had a goal to run a marathon and I’m currently training for a half this spring. I’m hoping to keep the training rolling and run one in the fall. I figure, it’s now or never—it’s not going to get easier.
Question 6: What’s your go-to karaoke song or pump-up anthem?
Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Always gets a crowd going and one of my favorite bands.
Stay tuned each month as we continue to highlight more of our employee-owners and share their unique stories. We’re excited to showcase the people who make Providence a great place to work!
