Bascule Bridges
Two bascule bridges over the Sassafras and Miles Rivers in Maryland were scheduled to be repainted.
Providence provided the containment and work platforms required for the abrasive blasting and painting projects for the two bascule bridges. Wind loads on the increased surface area due to the containment, as well as the additional loading due to the platform rigging all had to be considered when determining effective counter-balance measures of the structure.
